April Children's Ministry Update

Hello Christ Central Parents!
I hope you had a great spring break and are enjoying this beautiful Spring season. We have a ton going on this April, and I am excited about celebrating all that God has done for us this Easter with you and your families.
What’s new?
  • Starting Sunday, April 7th, the Treehouse Classroom will be 1st-3rd grade. This means that if your child is in 1st grade and is still in the Forest, they will be moving to the Treehouse this Sunday. Usually we try not to make these types of changes in the middle of the year, however, to accommodate our ever growing Forest Classroom, we as a staff feel this is a necessary change. Thank you again for your flexibility and continued grace as we navigate our rapidly-growing children’s ministry.
  • We are partnering with Church of the Good Shepherd’s VBS program this summer June 17th-21st. In order to accommodate a church our size, they are needing us to send volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering, please email their volunteer coordinator at laurahelton424@gmail.com. Open registration begins Easter Sunday on their website at http://www.cgsonline.org.
  • We are still looking for volunteers to fill in some holes this May and the coming summer months. If you would be interested in helping to fill a teaching role please email our Children’s Ministry Assistant Alison Edwards at alison@christcentraldurham.com .
Upcoming Events
  • The Palm Sunday Children’s Performance will take place Sunday, April 14th, during both services. Our Forest and Treehouse classrooms have been working hard to get ready for their performances and I am excited to hear them sing! Heads up, we will have someone record the performances and I will send that out to all parents as soon as I get the footage.
  • Join us for our annual Spring Fling celebration! Every year on Palm Sunday, we join together after the second service to celebrate Holy Week with NuvoTaco (formerly Nanataco), bounce houses, and an easter egg hunt for kids of all ages! It will be held Sunday, April 14, at 12:30pm at Forest Hills Park.
  • Easter Services will be held Sunday, April 21st. In order to make room for all the new visitors that come on Easter Sunday, we will be moving to three services. We understand that it is a sacrifice, but we are asking you as a church body to consider attending the 12:30pm service in order to allow newcomers the room in our earlier morning services. It is very possible that we will cap out in our childcare classrooms and we DO NOT want to turn away new families from the opportunity to engage in our children’s programming.
  • Save the Date! We will be having our second ever Parent’s Night Out this coming Friday, May 3rd, from 5:30-7:30pm. More details will be coming soon!
What are we learning this month?
One of my goals this year in our Children’s Ministry is to make sure that our families know what we are learning on Sundays and are equipped with the resources necessary to keep the conversation going long after they leave church on Sunday morning. The classes below will have a link to a quick summary of what we will be talking about this month and different questions and stories you can talk about at home.
