SERVE

Want to serve the city alongside others at Christ Central?
These in-house Community Care ministries of Christ Central are a great way to get involved and serve the city of Durham alongside others from our church.

Educational Partnership seeks to be a blessing to Durham by engaging educational inequity through direct relief efforts, congregational equipping, and partnership with other education organizations.  This coming year, Educational Partnership envisions working closely with our partner school, C. C. Spaulding, as they embrace some significant changes

Family Advocacy Ministry walks alongside families that are fostering or adopting by serving them through prayer and meals, by creating Care Teams of volunteers to walk alongside families at Christ Central who are fostering, and by providing scholarships to families who are adopting.  Family Advocacy Ministry also provides opportunities for education on the topics of family, fostering, and adoption.

Circles of Support is a long-term, relational mercy ministry. The goal of Circles of Support is to engage in authentic partnership with individuals who are in need of friendship, support, information, and advocacy. Circles of Support seeks to provide wrap-around support as individuals pursue progress in removing the root causes of their personal challenges and enduring the ills of injustice.

One of the most pressing concerns facing Durham today is a concern over food insecurity. Approximately 1 in 6 low-income individuals in Durham involuntarily skip at least one meal per day. One of the largest contributing factors to Durham’s food insecurity is a lack of access to grocery stores. Creation Care seeks to join in that effort by empowering the food insecure to grow their own resources by planting gardens in their space and providing education and maintenance assistance as needed.

Repair is a service based ministry addressing the restoration needs of our congregation, neighborhood, non-profit partners, and public property. Repair provides direct assistance when called upon for repairs, restoration, construction service, and low-income housing. Repair also offers restoration education, handiness training, and woodworking classes for youth and families. Please be on the lookout for more programming this Spring!
