PRAYER

Prayer is not just submitting our requests to God but also ourselves to him. Prayer invites the Lord’s presence into our lives, so we practice various prayer methods to cultivate greater awareness of the Lord’s nearness.

As a church, we pray each week for different church and ministry partners in our community and around the world. In the early days of Christ Central, we would pause during our service and take prayer requests each week. We would like to better engage our congregation and community through prayer this season as a larger church. To do so, we have created a form below that you can use to submit a prayer request. These requests will be submitted to our prayer team and prayed for individually!

Why Should We Pray?

  • 2 Chronicles 7:14, James 5:13, Philippians 4:6, 1 Thessalonians 5:17

How crazy is it that we need to be commanded to commune with the living God? Yet because God knows how prone we are to wander, He calls us to pray as an act of obedience.

  • Ephesians 2:18, Hebrews 10:19-22, Matthew 27:51

In the Old Testament, only one man could come before the God of the Universe once a year. Because of what Christ has done and because the veil has been torn, we have direct access to our Heavenly Father. What a glorious gift!

  • John 15:5, Isaiah 40:31, Proverbs 3:5-6, Psalms 20:7

It is so easy in our culture of abundance to think that we don’t need God – that we can purchase or achieve everything we want through our gifts and talents. However, the Bible is clear that we cannot do anything apart from God’s sovereign blessing.

  • Mark 11:24, 1 John 5:14-15, Psalms 102:17

Although we can do nothing on our own, in Christ all things are possible. We should have great confidence that if we pray, God will hear us and answer our prayers!

How Do We Pray?

  • Revelation 21:1-5

The Bible gives us a picture of the renewal that Christ will bring when He returns. So, knowing that God’s word is true, we pray with that glorious end in mind, when all things will be made new, and God’s glory will fill the earth like the water covers the sea.

  • One of the greatest blessings of prayer is that we can do it anytime and anywhere. Our heavenly Father even encourages us to cry out to Him without ceasing (1 Thes 5:17). Yet, there is much to be gained by praying with one another. Jesus declares that He is uniquely present when two or more are gathered in His name (Matt 18:19-20).

We’d like to encourage each of you to set aside a few times this week to pray with one another–whether in your family, with your City Group, or simply alongside some brothers or sisters that you’ve gotten to know here at the church.
