Formation at Christ Central
Following Jesus along the path of life is not always easy, but we find abundant life by trusting in His truth and walking in His ways. We believe this happens through Community Formation. By this, we mean that how we express ourselves in the world should be the result of a deeply rooted inner life with Jesus Christ. We believe that through the rhythms of our different avenues of Community Formation we can also accomplish one of our church values of Embracing One Another–that our community might be cross-cultural–so that we can celebrate our similarities and embrace our differences as complementary aspects of the same God.
We also have provided eight Spiritual Practices that can empower individuals to embark on a journey of Personal Formation.
City Groups
City Groups offer a community where co-ed groups of 10-15 people gather to grow in grace, community, and mission. City Groups meet on different nights of the week throughout the city of Durham. In these groups, men and women commit to doing life together, praying with and for one another, studying God’s word together, and loving their neighbors.
City Groups will begin the week of September 1st. Sign-up for a City Group below!
Emotionally Healthy Spirituality
The Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Course is an opportunity to take discipleship into a deeper relationship with God and with others and serves as the foundational course for discipleship at Christ Central. EHS will help us see the link between our emotional life and our spiritual life and how we can align them towards the Lord. This year, our Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Course will begin on September 8th and meet each Sunday at 4:00 pm until November 3rd. The cost is $10 and scholarships are available. Women's Bible Study
Over the past few years, we have inductively studied Old and New Testament books to grow deeper in our love and knowledge of God. We have approached the text intending to let it shape our lives. This year, we will continue this pursuit by focusing on spiritual disciplines so we can continue to apply the knowledge of Scripture to our lives through a book study.
This fall, we will read Fervent: A Woman’s Battle Plan for Serious, Specific, and Strategic Prayer by Priscilla Shirer, coupled with a Scripture study on prayer. A book study offers an inviting opportunity for women to join a Bible study for the first time while providing regular Bible study attendees a chance to dive deeper into a spiritual discipline.
Prayer, like any discipline, requires us to learn how, why, and what we need to pray for, especially as we face various trials on our spiritual journey. Fervent will guide us into thoughtful reflection and purposeful prayers to live a life of freedom, peace, and power as women of the Word.
Join us for a compelling, straightforward, and powerful lesson on crafting strategic prayers for your daily life. Our study will begin the week of September 16th. The cost is $25. Sign up using the link below!
