SPIRITUAL PRACTICES
Spiritual Practices are how we cultivate and grow our individual faiths and relationships with God in our daily life. As a church, we emphasize spiritual, social, and cultural renewal. In seeking spiritual renewal, we hope to see individual lives change and communities formed by individuals believing the gospel, belonging to community, and becoming more like Christ. We believe that by participating in the eight spiritual practices below, individuals will experience spiritual renewal themselves.
Word
Psalm 119:105 teaches that God’s word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. Because of this, we want to be steeped in the word of God so that we can better live for the glory of God and the good of others.
Rule of Life
We live life through rhythms. Rule of life is an opportunity to prayerfully consider how to develop rhythms to keep us rooted in Christ throughout the day through prayer, study, and recreation.
Songs
We value worship through song. Ephesians 5:19 commands us to engage in spiritual songs. This playlist will cultivate deeper worship to the Lord.
Sabbath and Solitude
Believers need extended time to connect with the Lord. We are finite creatures, and the command to rest is a significant opportunity to embrace our limitations as we embrace the Lord.
Emotional Health
Peter Scazzero often comments that we can never be more spiritually mature than we are emotionally mature, so we prioritize emotional health so that we can abide in Christ and bear good fruit as holistic beings.
Prayer
Prayer is not just submitting our requests to God but also ourselves to him. Prayer invites the Lord’s presence into our lives, so we practice various prayer methods to cultivate greater awareness of the Lord’s nearness.
Fellowship
The Lord commands us not to neglect meeting together (Hebrews 10:24-25) and that being with one another and exhorting one another helps protect us from a hardened heart through the deceitfulness of sin (Hebrews 3:13). So, we fellowship with one another to be blessed by Christ’s body.
Service
As a church, we are called to renewal. As salt and light in this world, we believe our faith propels us forward to be a blessing to the world. Service is worship, a spiritual practice that nourishes our faith as much as it should nourish the world.
